The last plenary session of our 12th ELIA Conference was presented by Dr. Prue Holmes (Durham University, UK).



After this enlightening presentation, there was a raffle of some books donated by our sponsors.

The 12th ELIA Conference Organizing Committee thanks you for your participation in our conference and hopes to see you all at the 13th ELIA conference.

The 12th ELIA Conference Organizing Committee introduced the 4 invited guests who opened the conference:




Dr. Jaime Ramírez, Director de CIEE en Sevilla (Council on International Educational Exchange); 
Dr. José Carlos Casillas Bueno, Director del Secretariado de Internacionalización de la US; 
Dr. Joaquín Comesaña Rincón, Director de Departamento de Lengua Inglesa; 
Dr. Francisco González Ponce, Decano de Facultad  de Filología;

On this occasion, we have 104 speakers coming from far distant places, and who will be giving 73 talks (see Program). We have speakers from all over Spain, but also from places like Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Chile, China, Finland, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Nigeria, Portugal, Poland, Republic of Georgia, Thailand, UK, USA, from the five continents. We will have promising opportunities for intercultural learning during the conference.

The opening was followed by the initial plenary session "Developing intercultural competence through education, personal encounters and mediated experiences", by Dr. María del Carmen Méndez García from Universidad de Jaén, Spain.
